Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP)
http://research.berkeley.edu/urap/
URAP is designed to involve Berkeley undergraduates more deeply
in the research life of the University. The Program provides opportunities
to work closely with faculty on the cutting edge research projects,
expanding students’ knowledge and skills in areas of special
interest while providing the experience being engaged in an intellectual
research community. (A limited number of summer stipends is available.)
Biology Scholars Program (BSP)
http://bsp.berkeley.edu/
The Biology Scholars Program (BSP) is an undergraduate program designed
to promote the success of students from economic, gender, ethnic
and cultural groups historically underrepresented in the biological
sciences. The goal of BSP is to diversify who participates in science,
thereby benefiting the discipline and our larger society. Whereas
most BSP members are biology majors, some choose other majors (e.g.,
psychology, social welfare, mathematics) leading to careers (e.g.,
journalism, public policy, public health) that will allow them best
to express their interest in biology.
Center for Science and Engineering Education (CSEE)
http://csee.lbl.gov/
CSEE helps educate and train the next generation of scientists and
engineers to promote national science and education goals. Undergraduate
student programs include the Student Undergraduate Laboratory Internship
(SULI), which places eligible undergraduate students into paid internships
at DOE facilities such as Berkeley Lab (see the DOE’s SULI
website for details at http://www.scied.science.doe.gov/scied/ERULF/about.html).
