Bertozzi elected to National Academy of Sciences

Cross-section of cell with membrane proteins
Physical bioscientist Carolyn Bertozzi was one of three UC Berkeley and Berkeley Lab researchers recently elected to the prestigious National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Bertozzi was recognized for her "distinguished and continuing achievements in original research." Dr. Bertozzi’s research in the fields of glycochemistry and biological nanostructures is also the cover story in the Winter 2005 issue of HHMI Bulletin, where she tells of the pride she takes in choosing projects that many other chemists would consider too risky.
